I recently had a prop strike wth my 108-3..cf-fhi in canada and after having the crank inspected found two cracks at the rear of the prop flange.I found it impossible to use the pzl crank re costs and have purchased a Continental 0470-J..230 hp and have begun the installation. Hope to be flying by Xmas.I am intersted in selling my heavy case 165hp franklin 780hrs complete firewall forward.Any offers from those looking for rare engine spares. This engine is excellent with the exception of the crank.New reconditioned generator, exhaust and manifolds. Hello, this is Shane Horton again, I found the reason why I had recieved no response from my inqueies so I will rectify that situation.
The question for the day is does anyone out there have any verifiable information of the Demers Super tips? These are a fiberglass wing tip sold out of Oregon and they claim all manner of great improvements. I am seaking independant confermation. The right tip on 343-C is damaged and the cost of a new tip from Univair is pretty steep. If I can realize an improvement is flight by going with the Super Tip I will.

Great to find you guys here tonight! Typed in Stinson and look what I've found. SWSC....I think I might have been a member 9 or so years ago, I cannot recall. Printed out a new member app. look for it.
By the way I own (and have for a long time) 1947 108-2 serial #3481 flying station wagon, 165hp, sort-of restored (new paint, interior instruments, radios, fabric, etc), bright red/brown leather, mostly original panel. Based at POC (Brackett field) N481C (my other sweethart)
Good seeing you again. Email: adigati@earthlink.net

Hello, I was searching through the Internet and found this site and for some reason my curiosity forced me to take a look. My name is Tom Stinson, and I was interested in the Stinson aircraft and the history of it. I don't fly but when I saw the Southwestern Stinson Club I felt I had to write! Any information on the aircraft and history would be appreciated. Thanks for your time and good luck with the club!

Mr Stinson:
The following reference is a good general history of the Stinson Aircraft Company with some information about the Stinson family:
Underwood, John. The Stinsons: A Pictorial History. Heritage Press, 1976.
You might also enjoy following this link to Larry Westin's Stinson Pages, a really good site with tons of information on all aspects of Stinson aircraft, including an extensive bibliohgraphy. http://www.smartlink.net/~westin/ac_0.html

I'm look for a Stinson 108-3 in good condition. There are two listed on the Internet but their phone numbers are wrong. As soon as I find the right plane I'll be joining you. Thank for the help.
Fellow flyers, Here I sit bad weather all around and cannot fly!! What to do? Find others in a like situation and shoot the breeze.
I fly a 1947 108-2 around my home airport in Haines Alaska, I make lots of trips to Skagway and Juneau on busines, and go into the interior or up to Anchorage on occasion. For you from "outside" going from city to city in Alaska can be a short jump HNS-SKG 18 stat. miles or a bit of a trip HNS-ANC 800 STat miles. I use my plane mostly for work, but sometimes I get in a bit of pleasure flying. I go moose spotting in the fall to scout hunting spots. I spot goats and bears just for kicks and even spot salmon schools in the clear water streams. We look for whales when we go to Juneau or Skagway and fly up over the glaciers when the ceiling is high. The terrain here is sealevel to 9000 ft. or more. Our home port is at 16 ft. and the mountains go nearly straight up. Needless to say we do a lot of canyon running and scooting through passes.
What do you use your plane for? Where do you go? Describe local fields and proceedures. I flew out of Browns field out of San Diego a few years back and was terrified!!! Give me rain or snow any time.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Can anyone tell me the proper method for mounting a windshield on a 1948 Stinson 108-3 stationwagon? Where to drill the holes to fasten it, how big, and how many? What are some of the problems that would be encountered? Thank you

My name is Cathy Orrick Luders, granddaughter of Martha Stinson Orrick, whose nieces (I believe) were Katherine and Marjorie Stinson. I would like to obtain family history, not just aviation history. I have clippings and photographs of the Stinson girls and a photo of Eddie Stinson (who started the Stinson Aircraft Co. in Detroit), but I know little about the family. Are you able to assist in any way? Thanks.
G,day from the land Downunder.
Just a small question for a relative of mine that does not have access to the Internet.
He is a Stinson series 108 owner, and wishes to know if the register for this aircraft for USA and Canada, con be found on the Internet??????
Thanks in advance for your help.
